Cheshire-based natural stone supplier Rockford has recently completed a bespoke installation in Salford’s tallest building – Exchange Court – using Italian Granite protected by ECOPROTEC® Natural Finish Stone Sealer. Over 40 stone slabs were used for the installation, which spans the building’s main atrium, including the foyer, staircases and walls.
Developed by Renaker Build Ltd for AQ Investments, Exchange Court is a landmark residential skyscraper designed by OMI Architects. It is situated in the ‘Greengate’ regeneration area, close to Manchester city centre, and stands 131m tall. Its 44 stories include 349 high specification apartments, set in landscaped gardens next to the River Irwell.
To reflect the development’s luxurious interior, grey-toned Serrizzo Granite was chosen for the floors and wall cladding. The coarse-grained Italian stone has a white background with dark grey and black veining. ECOPROTEC® Natural Finish Stone Sealer was used to protect the stone, without changing its original striking appearance. Manufactured in the UK, this water-based impregnator sealer gives stain protection and allows the natural surface to breathe. The VOC-free treatment has a low odour formulation, for a safe application, and when maintained correctly can provide up to ten years’ protection against water, oil and grease.
